ACE Captains Day at Vale Royal Abbey Golf Club for £5,000 Cash Prize

Vale Royal Abbey Golf Club member, Nigel Bickerton, shot a £5,000 Hole in One at Vale Royal Captain’s day, and promptly split the prize with the Charity that the day was in aid of.  Captains Terry Hargrove and Judi Hewitt were thrilled with the donation. “It’s been a fantastic day and this has just topped the whole day off” said Terry.

On one of the hottest days of the year members were competing in the Captains Charity golf day for the Home from Home appeal, part of the Walton Centre’s fundraising efforts. Club Clean set up the Hole in One competition insured by Worldwide Hole ‘N One and the par three, 6th hole was host to the 12,000-1 chance shot.  In the late afternoon a loud roar was heard across the course as Nigel ‘aced’ the hole. Playing partner and local business man Andy Bettley said “It was on the flag all the way, one bounce, a bit of back spin and bang, in the hole.”  Other golfers on the tee who also witnessed the event described it as a “great shot”.

“It’s a great feeling to get a hole in one any time, but to get one today with the prize on offer is fantastic” said Nigel. He added “I would like to thank everybody at Vale Royal for organising the event, and I am happy I could contribute towards the Captains’ Charity”

As is tradition, Nigel made a hole in his prize money by treating fellow members to a round of drinks at the bar.

Captains Terry Hargrove and Judi Hewitt thanked Shirley Wilson of Lifestyle Arts and Crafts Ltd and Gordon Coulthard of Manufacturing Solutions (UK) Ltd who were sponsors of the hole, and all the members who contributed in raising over £3,250 on the day for a worth while cause and an ‘ACE’ Captains day.
