Rob Kelly couldn’t believe his luck when he scored a hole in one on Tuesday 30th September at the very first BattleBack Golf Day. His amazing ACE occurred just hours after jetting in from a holiday in Spain. After just a few hours sleep, the last thing on Rob’s mind was getting a hole in one. He teed off with his trusty 5 iron on the 7th hole, 164 yards at Worpelsdon Golf Club in Surrey to try and beat PGA EuroPro golfer, Liam Robinson with his shot to the pin. Liam was running one of the day’s many fundraising competitions out on hole 7.

Say’s Rob’’ It was more luck than anything! The ball drew to the left, landed just over the bunker then ran onto the green & into the hole! Liam said that he knew all along that the ball was going in!’’ There were further cheers when, Rob, 12 handicapper, almost got another hole in one on the 10th when his shot landed just a few feet from the pin; now that would have been a little more than a stroke of luck!

Not only did Rob beat Euro Pro Liam with his ACE shot, he will also WIN an amazing Golf Trip for 2 to 5* Marriott Prai D’El Rey in Portugal. The holiday, part of the prize package covered by us here at Worldwide Hole ‘N One Ltd, was kindly sponsored by local dealership Guildford Audi, owned by Colbornes Audi which is part of Lookers Group. Colbornes offered an Audi A1 as a main prize as part of their long term support of the Help for Heroes Charity. The day organised by Battlebacker, Richard Cross was an amazing & fun day which was very well supported. As an added bonus funds were raised for this fantastic charity.

The Battleback programme is a military initiative designed to introduce injured service personnel to sports & adventurous training activities. Set up & run by Lt Col Tristan Crew the programme provides equipment, coaching & golfing opportunities for the cohort of golfers which now exceeds over 100. A fantastic programme, which is well supported nationally by over 70 PGA pros and many key players in the golf industry.

Congratulation to Rob on his first hole in one & we look forward to what next year’s Battleback Golf Day will bring after the amazing success of it’s first event!
