Heroes National Celebrity Golf Day April 2013

Heroes National Celebrity Golf Day April 2013

Clear blue skies & a stunning view of the world class golf venue, Stoke Park greeted golfers for this memorable annual charity golf day on 24th April 2013.

In it’s third year & after a massive success last year, in the wettest possible conditions, this year felt full of promise, which as the day unfolded, it certainly delivered.

Worldwide Hole ‘N One were again proud to be one of the official partners of this great charity golf day along with City Golf, Busnell, Barrington Ayre and many more including main sponsors Your Golf Travel. The event was expertly organised by Ben Hortop in conjunction with Cignet.  Photography came courtesy of Les Brown who did a great job of capturing the fantastic atmosphere through his lens.

Event Ambassadors, Georgie Bingham & Dan Walker headed up a fabulous line up of celebrities who, for the lucky amateurs who managed to bag themselves a team place on this sell out day, would lead the teams to play. Celebrities taking part in the event this year included ex England Goalkeeper David Seaman, comedian Dom Jolly, supermodel Jodie Kid & ex Westlife singer Brian McFadden. Also golfing were the Battle Back Golfers who as well as taking part in the main event played in another competition on The Lane Jackson Course.

Players were greeted on arrival by the gorgeous girls from European Golf Challenge, who we had the pleasure of meeting for the first time. We had lots to talk about, united in anticipation of the par 3 action that lay ahead.

Before tee off there were interviews with a few of the Battle Backers that really reminded us what the day was about. Focusing on real lives, and the great work done by this amazing charity launched in 2007, Help For Heroes helps wounded soldiers returning from Afghanistan & Iraq. Not only do they provide support to the wounded & sick but also to the families who suffer just as much if not more in the way that their lives are changed forever. Golf is one of the activities that the charity encourages within its rehabilitation programme.

Doing what we do best we provided a first class bespoke prize package for the day, available to any winner, the just to be launched F-Type Jaguar, kindly sponsored by Hadley Green Garages of Barnet, Herts. This stunning prize was positioned on the 7th hole, the beautiful & challenging par 3 that inspired the famous 16th at Augusta National. We saw some fantastic shots onto the green rolling towards the pin, though just not quite far enough to win the grand prize. Geoff from team Barrington Ayre took nearest the pin, with a heart stopping shot which we all thought was heading into the hole! Fun was had by all but sadly the Jaguar F-Type lived to be played for another day.

One of the most imaginative prizes on offer was from Tom Wharton of Barrington Ayre, bespoke Tailor of The Cotswold’s. As well as providing Winners Jackets for the winning Team, Tom sponsored ‘Hit the mannequin’ out on the 8th, a long par 4 where any ball that hit the mannequin would win their very own bespoke tailored jacket. Sadly no winners of this prize, but a ‘hole’ lot of fun taking part!

An Amazing round of golf was followed by prize giving at the foot of The Great hall Staircase. The Royal Welsh Corps of Drums then performed before a gala dinner. An auction followed the dinner with a great live performance by Brian McFadden. Then it was on to the 19th hole to celebrate this very successful day!
