Over 20-years of Captain’s days rewarded with an Ace…

It can often be a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence, but local golfer Simon Lavers made it count as an unbelievable hole-in-one at Stock Golf Club’s Captain’s Day won him a brand new BMW X4.

Event sponsor and Tring BMW Retailer Specialist Cars offered the amazing prize, which was insured with Worldwide Hole ‘n One on the 9th hole – a lengthy par 3 standing at 197 yards. In what Simon described as a ‘magical moment’, his tee shot proved to be the most important of his life as he holed out and was able to drive away in his new car.

Simon commented: “I’ve probably played in every Captain’s Day at Stocks since it opened over 20 years ago and this year’s captain, Martin Crisp, added the extra excitement of the possibility of winning a BMW if anyone got a hole in one at the 9th, of course no one would, would they?!”

“Having double bogeyed the 8th, I went last and watched the ball land short and run towards the shadow of the flag stick. I know it won’t be in although my playing partners are shouting that they can’t see it and it’s gone in! We stroll, walk, quick march and then all run to the green and see that it’s in, cue a lot of screams and jumping around from yours truly (sorry greenkeepers!). Many years ago when I had a job that came with a company car, I wanted a BMW but hadn’t made the grade. I have now, thanks to Specialist Cars and a magical moment!”

Specialist Cars Tring, Tim Verschoyle, Sales Manager, added: “A huge congratulations to Simon on his incredible shot, we’re delighted the prize has been won and what’s more, to such a determined golfer and stalwart member of Stocks Golf Club. We are always keen to support local sporting teams and social activities, and naturally golf is very close to our heart with such a picturesque course such as Stocks just around the corner from our BMW Centre in Tring. Having a number of keen golfers amongst our ranks at Specialist Cars, we are always happy to support local clubs in whatever way we can.”
